Public Security Forces actively fight nCoV infection

Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Son, Deputy Minister of Public Security, Head of the Steering Committee for Disease Prevention and Control of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) on February 6 chaired a meeting to review the prevention and control of the acute respiratory infection caused by novel Corona virus (nCoV) in the Public Security Forces.

A report by the Department of Health under the MPS showed that, on February 3, the MPS established a Steering Committee for Disease Prevention and Control and promptly took preventive measures against the nCoV-caused disease. The Steering Committee also sent various working teams to inspect the epidemic prevention and control activities of public security units and agencies at all levels.

Particularly, the police forces in charge of immigration and management of foreign residency have coordinated with relevant Central-level and local agencies to strictly control the entry and exit of people while conducting body temperature checks of all entering people at all land, sea, and air border gates to early detect and quarantine suspected infected cases.

The economic police across the country in coordination with functional forces discovered 26 cases of smuggling, speculating, hoarding or selling facemasks and medical equipment at high prices. In the violation cases, the functional forces seized 422,100 medical facemasks and 3,905 handwashing and disinfecting bottles.

Meanwhile, the cybersecurity police have promptly halted thousands of pieces of fake and false information about the epidemic situation, causing social panic. They have also investigated the cases and strictly handled people posting fake and false information on social networks.

At the same time, the public security press and media attached great importance to providing public security officers and soldiers and the people with correct information about the epidemic situation as well as knowledge of the disease.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son praised the efforts of the whole Public Security Forces in preventing the disease over the past time.

The Deputy Minister requested the MPS’s Department of Health to coordinate with other related departments and local police units to check the stock of drugs and medical equipment, and supply sufficient drugs and equipment for public security officers working at places of high risk of infection.

Public security hospitals and medical facilities should open more training courses for quick response teams and prepare good quarantine areas in case of a possible epidemic outbreak.

All public security agencies and units should clean up and spray antiviral chemicals at their offices, meeting places and accommodations as well as stabilize thoughts of all officers and soldiers.
