Public Security Forces to proactively respond to natural disasters

PSNews – The Ministry of Public Security on December 10 issued a dispatch requiring the public security forces to proactively respond to possible calamities of tropical depression and heavy rain, flash flood, landslide.

The dispatch, which was sent to the Steering Committee for Climate Change, Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, and Search and Rescue under the Ministry of Public Security, the Police Departments of the provinces from Quang Binh to Phu Yen, the High Command of Mobile Police, the Department of Traffic Police, the Department of Fire Police and others relevant units, requests police units at all levels to proactively prepare efforts and assets, and respond to possible calamities of tropical depression and heavy rain, flash flood, landslide.

To effectively respond to possible heavy rains, floods and landslides, the Ministry of Public Security asks all above mentioned units to:

Strictly implement dispatch 58/ CD-TW issued on December 9, 2018 by the Permanent Office of the Central Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention, and the Office of the National Committee for Search and Rescue; and directions of local authorities in response to dangerous weather, especially possible heavy rains, floods and landslides.

All police forces to ensure absolute safety for their offices, police camps, prisons, detainment centers, educational facilities as well as key economic and political premises guarded by the police forces while protecting files, documents, working means and equipment of the police forces.

Closely monitor developments of the dangerous weather via the mass media while actively coordinating with relevant units to safety for people and assets; coordinate with local authorities and functional forces to provide necessities to people.

Direct traffic forces to support people in water-logged roads and dangerous areas; implement plan to protect documents, means and working facilities of the public security forces safely.

Deploy forces to be on 24/24h duty, ready forces and means for rescue missions upon requests, and periodically report Ministry of Public Security’s Office on the situations of localities and developments of the dangerous weather.

On November 10, the National Center for Hydro Meteorological Forecasting said several areas from the provinces of Thua Thien Hue to Quang Nam continued to experiencing torrential rains in upcoming days.

Water levels continue rising on rivers from Quang Binh to Thua Thien Hue, low-lying areas from Thua Thien Hue to Quang Nam provinces including Hue City, Hoa Vang district, Cam Le and Hai Chau districts in Da Nang City and Dien Ban, Duy Xuyen, Thang Binh, Hoi an city of Quang Nam province will face floods.

In another development, water levels on the rivers in Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh provinces are forecast to rise up again. Landslides and flash floods also would occur in low-lying areas and mountainous region from Quang Binh province to Phu Yen.
