Quang Ninh Police help people overcome floods

PSNews – Heavy downpours since July 19 due to the circulation of Storm No.3 have submerged Tien Yen Town, Tien Yen District and Ba Che District, Quang Ninh Province nearly 2 meters deep in water.  Many streets and houses are still flooded.

The Quang Ninh Provincinal Police Department has mobilized 100% of its personnel to be on duty in response to the storm and for rescue missions on request. At this point, the local police force in coordination with functional units is evacuating people from areas at high risk of floods and landslides as well as ensuring security and order.

 As the water has flooded Tien Yen Town, the local police force have moved 8 families and their property to safe places and assigned some police officers to guard the 8 families’ assets.

The local traffic police force has also mobilized all of its personnel to guide people and means to travel safely on roads. They deployed 4 cars, including 2 trucks, to transport people and their property away from the areas at high risks of landslides, floods and flash floods.

Leaders of the Tien Yen District Police Station said that, in order to respond to further complicated developments of Storm No.3, the local police force would coordinate closely with local authorities, agencies and organizations to work out plans and implemented comprehensive approaches to respond to possibly increased floods and landslides while informing local people, especially in remote commune, skills to prevent floods and landslides.

The District Police would also grasp the situations in areas in danger of flash floods, landslides as well as guard dykes, roads affected by the floods in order to promptly advice the local Party Committee and authority on good measure to cope with the floods and to overcome the floods’ consequences.
