Quang Tri police strives to ensure security in border areas

PSNews – Over the past time, the Quang Tri Provincial Police Department has strengthened the task of preventing and controlling crime in order to ensure security and order in the border areas.

According to Colonel Ho Sy Nhung, Head of the Huong Hoa District Police Station, the drug-related crimes situation in Huong Hoa District has been complicated over the past years, especially in urban areas and localities bordering Laos.

In recent years, criminals take advantage of the difficult terrains in the border area and bordercrossing trails to carry out illegal activities, including trading and transporting prohibited goods, drug dealing, and organizing illegal immigration.

Following the directions of the Ministry of Public Security and Quang Tri authorities, the Quang Tri Provincial Police Department has deployed synchronously measures to prevent and suppress crimes.

In order to fight against drug-related crimes, the local police unit has closely coordinated with the local civil guard to often patrol in remote locations to fight against all kinds of crimes as well as to pre

Within 2 months, the Huong Hoa District Police has discovered and investigated 11 drug-related cases, arrested 19 suspects involved, seized 85,396 synthetic narcotics tablets and many other kinds of narcotics.

However, drug traffickers have become more tactful and venturesome, carrying a large amount of drugs.

Against this backdrop, the Huong Hoa District Police has implemented synchronous professional measures to drastically combat illicit drug trafficking and use across the district.

The local police post in collaboration with thue Huong Hoa District authority organized nearly 100 meetings with local people to launch the movement of “All people protecting national security” with an increasing number of participants.

It also sent officers to wards and communes to disseminate laws and the harms of illicit drug abuse, and mobilizes local people to join the fight against illicit drug trafficking and abuse by forming models of self-managed security groups with the participation of local people.

As the spring is coming, it conducts more patrols and sets ambushat hotspots and on the routes that criminals often transport illicit drugs such as Lao Bao town, Tan Thanh and Tan Long commune.

Nowadays, the security and order situation in the area has always been guaranteed. The efforts of the grassroots police force in ensuring security in the border areas has contributed to creating a stable and peaceful environment for provincial socio-economic development.
