Security cameras operate effectively in Hoi An

PSNews – The ancient town of Hoi An, Quang Nam Province attracts millions of domestic and foreign tourists annually. In order to ensure local security and order and traffic safety, the Hoi An Municipal Police Sub-Department has installed and put into use the smart surveillance camera systems along all important roads.

In 2009, Hoi An only had 16 “magical eyes” to monitor local security. Currently, according to Senior Colonel Dinh Xuan Nghi, Head of the Hoi An City Police Sub-Department, the local police force manages 143 security cameras installed at 112 places on main roads throughout the city.

The cameras funded by the Hoi An Municipal People’s Committee and managed by the Hoi An City police force, are able to recognize vehicles, search for vehicles through license plates, and measure traffic flow.

The city’s camera systems would help the local police handle violations of security and traffic safety.

In the coming time, the smart surveillance camera systems would also help the local police to handle traffic safety violations.

The installation of security cameras in Hoi An has helped the police effectively fight against all kinds of crimes, especially robbery and illegal motor racing.

On the afternoon of April 20, Ms. T(residing at Que Xuan 1 Commune, Que Son District) while stopping her motorbike on Nguyen Duy Hieu Street for a phone call was snatched her valuable cell phone from behind by a young man.

After receiving the information, the Hoi An City police quickly extracted images from the local security camera, tracked down and arrested the man. The suspect is Le Dinh Thien Hoang (residing at the Cam Thanh Commune, Hoi An).

The security cameras also help local police to dismiss an illegal motor race on Vo Chi Cong road.

In the coming time, the Hoi An City police would recommend the People's Committee of Hoi An City to install another 15 to 20 cameras with smart traffic monitoring software on key roads, in order to further strengthen the camera systems of the city.

The city’s camera systems would help the local police handle not only violations of security and traffic safety, but also violations of urban order.
