Tay Ninh Province and 3 Cambodian Provinces join efforts to control drugs-related crimes

PSNews – The Tay Ninh Provincial People’s Committee and the authorities of the three Cambodian provinces of Svayrieng, TboungKhmun and Prey Veng agreed to strengthen cooperation on drug prevention and control at a recent conference.

The Vietnamese province of Tay Ninh in association with the three Cambodian provinces of Svayrieng, TboungKhmun, Prey Veng held a conference discussing measures to bolster cooperation in preventing and controlling drugs-related crimes.

The Vietnamese province of Tay Ninh shares 240km border with the three Cambodian provinces. Along the shared borderline, there are 2 main border gates, 12 auxiliary gates and many border crossing paths, facilitating communications and trade of people of the two sides.

However, this natural condition also facilitates drugs-related crime. From 2014 to September 2016, relevant forces of Tay Ninh have detected and prosecuted 41 cases with 77 arrestees relating to illegally trading and transporting drugs across the borderline.

Seized exhibits include 30,446 kg heroin, 2,593 kg “rock” drugs and 2,653 synthetic drug tablets.

At the conference, the two sides exchangedthe situations of the other side and results of their drug prevention and control in 2016; andsought measures to strengthen two-side cooperation in preventing and controlling drugs related crimes in the coming time.

The leaders of the two sides also signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in preventing and controlling drugs-related crimes. The two sides agreed to boost cooperation and exchange activities infighting drug related crime, create favorable conditions for the other side in preventing, investigating and resolving cases of drug related crime, and enhance information dissemination among people living along the borderline of the two countries.
