Thanh Hoa firefighters win sports, firefighting and rescue competition of Grouping 4

PSNews – The Department of Fire Prevention, Fighting and Rescue under the Ministry of Public Security on July 12 held contest on sports, firefighting and rescue in Thanh Hoa City for the police forces of Grouping 4.

The grouping 4 consists of 7 provincial-level police departments of Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue, and Da Nang City.

Senior Colonel Nguyen Minh Khuong, Deputy Director of the Department of Fire Prevention, Firefighting and Rescue, and Senior Colonel Le Nhu Lap, Deputy Director of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Police Department co-chaired the event.

The competition, which is part of the 8th Sport Festival “For Homeland Security” in 2020, witnessed the participation of 140 athletes from 7 teams, competing in 3 events: 100m obstacle course race combined with rescue tasks; 4 × 100 m relay combined with rescue tasks; and team employing firewater pumps to fight fire.

Despite the harsh weather, all participating athletes were clearly aware that this is an opportunity to improve their professional skills, physical strength, and especially firefighting and rescue techniques in order to meet the requirements of their tasks in the new situation.

After the one-day completion, the first prize went to the Fire Prevention, Firefighting and Rescue Division under the Thanh Hoa Provincial Police Department. The second prize was presented to the Fire Prevention and Fighting and Rescue Division under the Nghe An Provincial Police Department.

These two units will represent the Grouping 4 to attend the final round of the contest on sports, firefighting and rescue to be held by the Ministry of Public Security in Da Nang on July 20.
