The Police Division for Administrative Management of Public Order under the Hue Municipal Police Department in collaboration with the Phuoc Vinh Ward Police Post recently launched the model of “inter-family fire safety and rescue groups” at the residential group No.1 of Phuoc Vinh Ward.
The residential group No.1 of Phuoc Vinh Ward has 188 households with many semidetached houses and shop houses, posing high risk of fire and explosion.
Therefore, the Phuoc Vinh Ward Police Post advised the local authority to establish 8 inter-family fire safety and rescue groups.
The police then trained people with skills to prevent fire and escape from fire, as well as raised local people’s awareness of fire prevention in their residential areas.
Meanwhile, the local Fatherland Front chapter also mobilized 100% local households to sign a commitment to have fire extinguishers at home, while granting fire extinguishers to needy households in the group.
In Phu Vang District, according to Head of the Phu Vang District Police Station Senior Colonel Bui Hong Phong, the “inter-family fire safety and rescue group” model was launched in Dong Di village, Phu Ho Commune.
The model, consisting of 2 groups and 15 members, is tasked of disseminating the guidelines and policies of the Party as well as the State's laws and regulations on fire prevention and rescue, at the same time grasping the situation of fire in locality, and organizing on-spot fire fighting forces when fire occurs.
According to the model, each member household of a fire safety group is equipped with at least one portable fire extinguisher and one demolition tool such as a hammer so they can participate in firefighting and rescue when fire occurs.
According to Colonel Che Cong Tan, Deputy Head of the Fire Police Division under the Thua Thien Hue Provincial Police Department, the establishment of “inter-family fire safety and rescue groups” aims to well implement the motto of “safe houses, safe neighborhoods will form a ward and commune safe from fire”.
