Delivering a report at the conference, Director of the Traffic Police Department Major General Nguyen Van Trung said that immediately after receiving Plan No. 299, the police units across the country developed their detailed plans and guided all traffic police officers and soldiers to the implementation.
Over the past two months, the traffic police force nationwide detected and handled more than 470,000 cases of traffic violations, fined 827 billion VND, and suspended more than 77 thousand driver’s licenses, seized more than 100,000 vehicles of all kinds.
Of the figures, the traffic police handled 61,401 cases of drunk-driving, 30,263 cases of oversized and overloaded vehicles, and 58,044 cases of speeding.
“After two months of implementing Plan 299, the traffic safety situation has changed positively. During the time, the traffic police focused on strictly handling overloaded and oversized cargo vehicles. The campaign was generally supported by the people. The number of traffic accidents in 13 provinces and cities decreased compared to the previous time," said Major General Nguyen Van Trung.
Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long acknowledged and praised the work results that the Traffic Police Department and the local police units have achieved in the past two months.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long requested the local police to enhance their operations on busy traffic routes and areas. Regarding tasks in the immediate future, the traffic police force and local police units should ensure security and safety for the celebration of the National Day September 2 and the opening ceremony of the new school year 2022 under the direction of the Prime Minister.
The traffic police force and local police units should also step up traffic law dissemination, especially in residential areas, agencies and schools, to raise the public awareness of complying with road safety regulations while strictly handling violations related to drunk-driving.
