Training course on treatment and rehabilitation of drug addicts opens for Cambodian officers

PSNews -  A training course on treatment and rehabilitation of drug addicts was held by the Counter-Narcotics Police Department under the Ministry of Public Security on November 12-17 for Cambodian officers.

At the opening ceremony, Senior Colonel Hoang Tam Hieu, Deputy Director of the Counter-Narcotics Police Department, said that, amidst the complicated drug trafficking and drug addiction situation in the world and the region, it is important and necessary to improve abilities and skills of officers, as it contributes to raising the efficiency of drug crime prevention and fight.

During the training course, experts from the Ministry of Public Security, Ministry of Health, and Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Tay Ninh province will hand on their practical experience in fighting drug-related crime to the Cambodian officers.

Participants will also be updated on the global and regional drug trafficking and drug addiction situation, medical interventions on drug addicts, management of drug addicts and post-detoxificated patients, and Vietnam’s policies on drug detoxification.

At the event, Major General Chhin Phoumea, Deputy Director of Cambodia’s National Authority for Combating Drugs, thanked the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security for annually organizing a training course for Cambodian police officers, adding that the trainees are expected to make contributions to improving the efficiency of the prevention of drug-related crimes, and reducing the negative impact of drugs in society.
