Vietnam, Hungary boost cooperation in combating organized and transnational crime

Deputy Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang leading a high-ranking delegation from the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam had a meeting with Minister of the Interior of Hungary Sandor Pinter, on the afternoon of January 18, 2024 (local time).

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban witness the signing of an agreement between the two governments on preventing and combating transnational, organized crimes.

Deputy Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang was a member of high-ranking Vietnamese delegation led by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh paying an official visit to Hungary.

At the meeting, Deputy Minister Luong Tam Quang and the Hungarian Minister of the Interior agreed to expand cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Ministry of the Interior of Hungary in the coming time.

Accordingly, the two sides will increase exchange of delegations at all levels, share experience in law enforcement, crime information, and coordinate in the fight against transnational crimes involving the two countries, especially organized crime and drug trafficking, terrorism, crime with the use of high technology and human trafficking.

The two sides will also coordinate to ensure security and safety of citizens of one country doing business, working, traveling, studying and living in the other as well as protect the legitimate rights and interests of Vietnamese citizens and representative agencies in Hungary and vice versa.

Immediately after the meeting, Deputy Minister Luong Tam Quang and Hungarian Minister of the Interior Sandor Pinter signed an agreement between the two governments on preventing and combating transnational, organized crime, in the presence of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.

The agreement will create a favorable legal framework for the two sides to expand cooperation in preventing transnational organized crimes involving the two countries in the future.
