Vietnam ready for 39th ASEANAPOL Conference

PSNews – The 39th ASEANAPOL Conference officially takes place in Hanoi on September 17-20 with the participation of about 300 delegates representing from ASEANAPOL member countries and its partner countries, observers, Interpol and ASEAN Secretariat.

The 39th ASEANAPOL Conference is themed “ Honored by Partnership, Sustained by Unity”. General To Lam, Politburo’s member, Minister of Public Security will attend and deliver opening speech at the opening ceremony. Senior Lieutenant General Le Quy Vuong, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of Public Security, Commander of the Vietnam Police Force, chairs the conference.

The conference sees the participation of international delegates from the 9 ASEANAPOL member countries, ASEANAPOL Secretariat, ASEANAPOL dialogue partners and observers, as well as Vietnamese delegates from relevant agencies under the Ministry of Public Security, local police units, and the Chief Representatives of Vietnam Police in Laos and Cambodia.

In preparation for this important event, the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security, in collaboration with the ASEANAPOL Secretariat, has drawn up a detailed conference agenda, sent invitation letters to guests, and coordinated with relevant agencies in preparing national reports, as well as the contents and theme of the Conference.

Earlier on July 30, the Office of the Police Investigation Agency under the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) hosted a meeting on the organization of the upcoming 39th ASEANAPOL Conference with the participation of 20 delegates from the ASEANAPOL Secretariat, Brunei Darrusalam, Cambodia and Vietnam.

At the meeting, the Vietnamese Organizer Board of ASEANAPOL 39th Conference briefed the delegates on the preparation for the conference while the ASEANAPOL Secretariat reminded Vietnam of important issues on the preparation and organization of the conference, and the Royal Police of Brunei, the 2018 ASEANAPOL Chairman, shared their experience in organizing the conference.

The delegates also discussed various issues and finally agreed on the reception protocol, the overall program, and the agenda for the 39th ASEANAPOL Conference in Vietnam.

Recently on September 4, the organizer board of the conference also held the 2nd meeting to listen to reports from sub-committees on their preparations for the conference and discussed approaches to promote coordination among support forces to ensure success for the upcoming 39th ASEANAPOL Conference.

Vietnam is the Chairman of the ASEANAPOL in 2019, which means it hosts all relevant activities, of which the 39th ASEANAPOL Conference would be considered as an important event to show the capacity of the Vietnamese Public Security Force.

Prior to the event, Lieutenant General Tran Van Ve, Chief of the Police Investigation Authority under the MPS, has urged all sub-committees to urgently complete their assigned tasks, ensuring that the 39th ASEANAPOL Conference will go smoothly and safely, contributing to promoting the country’s external affairs and international cooperation, and enhancing the prestige and position of Vietnam in the regional and global police cooperation mechanisms.

At the moment, all venues of the event have met the requirements to serve delegates. The MPS has also drawn up plans to accompany delegations between airports and hotels, and hotels and conference venues, as well as to ensure safety and transport for all participating delegations during their stays in Vietnam. The MPS has also deployed forces and fire safety plans to ensure absolute safety around the hotels of all delegations and the conference venues.
