At the meeting, the two Ministers exchanged views on the global and regional security situation as well as tradition and non-tradition security challenges, regional security and order issues, particularly activities of transnational and organized crime. According to them, these challenges require regional countries to strengthen cooperation through both multilateral and bilateral cooperation mechanisms for the sake of a safe, non-violent world as well as of security and development of each country.

Over the past time, the cooperation between the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and the Singaporean Ministry of Home Affairs has been strengthened. Both sides have actively promoted exchange of delegations at all levels, security cooperation, police affairs, law enforcement, crime prevention, fire prevention and fighting, and professional personnel training. Such activities have contributed to bolstering the strategic partnership between Vietnam and Singapore.
Regarding bilateral cooperation in the upcoming time, the two sides agreed to strengthen cooperation on transnational crime prevention, cyber crime, terrorism, economic crime and drug crime.

The two sides will also continue to consult and support each other at multilateral forums on crime prevention and other related issues, and to coordinate with each other to ensure security and order of the representative offices of each country and visits of high-level delegation to the other country.
On behalf of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam, Minister To Lam invited Minister Shanmugam to visit Vietnam at an appropriate time and Minister Shanmugam happily accepted.
