Book and Reading Culture Day to follow Uncle Ho's example launched by MPS

Sen. Lt. Gen., Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Quoc To, Deputy Minister of Public Security (MPS), on April 5, attended a ceremony in Hanoi to open the Book and Reading Culture Day with the theme "The People's Public Security Forces read and study all their life, following great Uncle Ho's example" and launched a project to build the "Ho Chi Minh bookcase" in the People's Public Security Forces.

Addressing the ceremony, Deputy Minister Tran Quoc To affirmed that President Ho Chi Minh was very fond of reading and valued books and newspapers during his lifetime. He was very interested in fostering a reading culture in the community, creating all conditions for people to access and enjoy spiritual values through books and newspapers. It is also the way to improve the knowledge of the public and each person with the aim of building a rich and beautiful country and fostering an advanced Vietnamese culture imbued with national identity.

Following Uncle Ho’s teachings, the Party and State always attach great importance to the building and development of a learning society, especially the development of a reading culture in the community through the master plan on development of the library, journalism and publishing industry.

In this circumstance, the MPS has been investing much in upgrading the public security library network, and implementing appropriate mechanisms and policies to encourage public security officers and soldiers to read, he added.

In the buildup to the 75th year since President Ho Chi Minh gave the 6 teachings to the People's Public Security Forces (March 11, 1948 - March 11, 2023), the MPS launched the movement "The People's Public Security Forces read and study all their life, following great Uncle Ho's example" in the entire People's Public Security Forces.

At the event, the organizers also launched a fundraising event for the building of the “Ho Chi Minh bookcase”. Public security agencies and units donated nearly 500 million VND in cash and 1,000 books for the project.

After the opening ceremony, Prof. Hoang Chi Bao, former member of the Central Theoretical Council introduced two books by the General, Prof. Dr. To Lam, Minister of Public Security: "New points on national security in the Documents of the 13th National Party Congress" and "Improving political thought of People's Public Security Forces in the new situation".

The program also includes many meaningful and attractive activities of learning and reading promotion such as book exhibition, exchange festival, book donation, book arranging contest.

The program will close on April 8.
