MPS and Ministry of Defense reviews implementation of Government’s Decree 77

PSNews - The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) and the Ministry of Defense organized a conference on April 18 to review the implementation of Decree No. 77/2010/NĐ-CP dated July 12, 2010 (Decree 77) in Q1 of 2018.

The meeting was co-chaired by Major General Luong Tam Quang, Chief of the Ministry of Public Security's Office and Lieutenant General Huynh Ngoc Ha, Chief of the Department of Operations under General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army.

According to reports on the results of coordination between the two standing bodies of the two ministries in Q1 of 2018, the two agencies have actively promoted coordination to advise leaders of the two ministries to direct the military and public security forces at all levels to strictly maintain the combat readiness posture and ensure absolute safety for important domestic political, cultural and social events and the Lunar New Year 2018, as well as international events hosted by the country, particularly the 26 Annual Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF-26), the Senior official meetings of the sixth Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS-6), the 10th Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam Summit on Development Triangle Area (CLV-10). The two Ministries jointly worked out and finalized a draft decree to replace Decree 77 of the Government; completed the amendment and supplement to the Public Security Law and many other relevant legal documents.

The two chairmen of the meeting agreed on the report on the outcomes of the coordination between the two standing agencies of the two ministries in Q1 of 2018 as well as the orientations for the next quarter.

They also urged the two bodies to promote information exchange, especially information related to situations and results of the coordination between the two forces at all levels, coordinate closely in evaluating situations; offer timely advise to leaders of the two ministries on policies and solutions to effectively handle issues related to security, order and defense from the grassroots level.
