MPS holds workshop on trafficking in persons

PSNews - The Department of Foreign Affairs under the Ministry of Public Security in coordination with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Vietnam held a workshop to build capacity of local officers to detect and investigate new-form human trafficking cases, from July 10-11, in Quy Nhon city, Binh Dinh province, Vietnam.

The workshop was funded by the UK Home Office through IOM Vietnam and within the framework of the program to support the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam in preventing and combating human trafficking in the period 2022 – 2025. The program had earlier been adopted by the Ministry of Public Security.

At the workshop, experts shared the practice of collecting and processing electronic evidence while investigating human trafficking cases, as well as methods of taking testimony according to criminal proceedings, procedures for receiving and handling denunciations and reports on human trafficking.

In the face of complicated developments in human trafficking as criminals commit the crime with many sophisticated methods and tricks and in new forms , its is very important for in-charge forces to early detect signs of crime so as to stop or/and launch investigation of human trafficking cases on time. 

Vietnam's Ministry of Public Security reiterates that preventing and combating trafficking in persons is not only the responsibility of the police force, but also requires the participation, coordination and concerted effort of all agencies, ministries, branches, organizations, people as well as support of international organizations.

The capacity building workshop aimed to equip officials with skills to detect and handle human trafficking cases, particularly trafficking in persons for the purpose of forced labor, forced organ harvesting and online forced criminality or other inhumane purposes.
