Earlier, the Ministry of Public Security’s Office issued a new dispatch requiring the Public Security Forces (PSF) to proactively respond to possible calamities in Storm No.3.

The dispatch was sent to the Steering Committee for Climate Change, Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, and Search and Rescue under the Ministry of Public Security; the Police Departments of Quang Ninh, Lang Son, Ha Giang, Cao Bang, Bac Kan, Tuyen Quang, Yen Bai, Lao Cai, Son La, Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Hoa Binh, Thai Nguyen, Bac Giang, Phu Tho, Thanh Hoa, and Nghe An provinces; and the High Command of Mobile Police, the Department of Fire Police, the Department of Traffic Police, the Police Department on Management of Prisons, Compulsory Centers and Reformatories.

The Ministry of Public Security’s Office asks all above mentioned units to closely monitor developments of the storms via the mass media, take appropriate measures, ready forces and means for rescue missions upon requests and minimize the losses of people and property.

In Bac Kan Province, a large landslide occurred on August 3rd on the section of National Highway 3 through Ban Giac Village, Hoa Muc Commune, Cho Moi District; caused one dead, two injured and traffic congestions for many hours.

Recognized the situation, the Bac Kan Traffic Police Division has deployed forces to guild traffic flows, and in collaboration with other forces cleared rock and soil off the road and rescued the victims.

According to Major Duong Van Thang, Deputy Head of the Bac Kan Provincial Fire Police Division, the unit has deployed over 30 police officers and soldiers to the scene for the rescue mission.

By 5 pm on same day, the route was cleared and opened to traffic. Leaders of the Provincial People’s Committee also visited and presented 13.4 million VND to families of the victims.

In Hanoi, the Municipal Police Department has deployed forces and means to the routes and areas that are at high risks of flooding and tree break to provide timely support and guide traffic flows.

The Traffic Police Division also collaborated with local functional units and police forces at all levels to deploy plans to prevent flooding and handle incidents on the roads and ensure traffic safety.

In particular, the Traffic Police Team No.2 has arranged force to patrol at key traffic routes, especially the Tran Phu - Chu Van An - Dien Bien - Hoang Dieu - Nguyen Thai Hoc - Dao Tan - Lieu Giai - Hoang Hoa Tham to handle incidents on time.

The District Police force in collaboration with the local authorities carefully inspected and evaluated the damages and evacuated local households living at landslide-prone areas to safe places.

In Van Ho District, Son La Province, the traffic was blocked for many hours due to landslides on the night of August 3rd. Thanks to great efforts of the local police and other forces, the road was cleared after several hours.
