Vietnam encourages Belgian investors in clean energy

PSNews – Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue led a delegation of the Vietnamese Government to visit solar and wind power projects of Rent A Port company on September 17, beginning his working visit to Belgium.

Rent A Port is an engineering and investment company, specializing in marine infrastructure, clean energy and industrial zones. In Vietnam, Ren A Port is one of the founders of Dinh Vu port (Hai Phong). 

This enterprise also invested in the Deep C Industrial Zones in both Hai Phong and Quang Ninh. Deep Cs now operate effectively, attracting dozens of secondary investors and creating jobs for 8,000 local labors. Besides, Ren A Port participates in restructuring the Vietnam National Shipping Lines (Vinalines).

In the clean energy field, Rent A Port has invested in a number of projects in Belgium, including the 200.000 sqm TerraNova solar project, contributing 15MW to the Belgium national power grid, with its efficiency of 5% higher than conventional power supplies.

According to Rent A Port, some Northern provinces of Vietnam can develop solar and wind power efficiently. The company is now considering investing a wind power project in Cat Ba (Hai Phong).

Appreciating the investment and business of Rent A Port in Vietnam Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue said: "The Vietnamese Government always supports effective and sustainab investment activities." He also asked Rent A Port to continue restructuring Vinalines in Vietnam.

Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue applauded Rent A Port’s investing in clean energy in Vietnam, especially its researching the connectivity between wind power systems and Vietnam’s national grid.

Then, Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue joined a reception party hosted by the Mayor of Ostend city Johan Vande Lanotte, former Deputy Prime Minister of Belgium.

At the reception party, Mayor Johan Vande Lanotte and leaders of Rent A Port expressed their support for the establishment of trade relations between the European Union (EU) and Vietnam via the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA).
