On behalf of the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security, Minister Lương Tam Quang congratulated Ms. Jennifer Wicks McNamara on her appointment as U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam, highly appreciating her capacity and extensive experience across key positions in the U.S. political system.
The Minister expressed his hope that Ambassador McNamara will build upon the achievements made by her predecessors, contributing to deepening and making the Vietnam–U.S. Comprehensive Strategic Partnership more substantive and comprehensive, for the benefit of the two nations, as well as for peace, prosperity and security in the region and the world.
Assessing Vietnam–U.S. relations, Minister Lương Tam Quang emphasized that, after 30 years of normalization and nearly three years of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership framework, the bilateral relations have made remarkable progress.
For the period ahead, Minister Lương Tam Quang suggested that Ambassador McNamara and the U.S. Embassy in Vietnam continue promoting high-level contacts and delegation exchanges in all levels, maximizing existing dialogue mechanisms, and accelerating negotiations toward the signing of a reciprocal trade agreement, alongside other key areas of mutual interest.
Regarding specialized cooperation, Minister Lương Tam Quang requested the U.S. Embassy to continue serving as a bridge to push security cooperation and joint efforts in combating crime between the Ministry of Public Security and U.S. law enforcement agencies toward greater depth, practical value and effectiveness. He also proposed strengthening coordination to organize joint training to enhance the professional capacity and foreign language skills of officers of the Vietnamese Public Security Forces.
Expressing her sincere gratitude to Minister Lương Tam Quang for his warm meeting, Ambassador Jennifer Wicks McNamara shared her honor in assuming her post during a period of strong momentum in bilateral relations. She affirmed that the U.S. side is ready to cooperate with the Ministry of Public Security and functional agencies of Vietnam to effectively address issues of shared concern.
Ambassador McNamara highly praised the recent outcomes of cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security and U.S. partners, stating that she would direct relevant functional units to coordinate with the Ministry to effectively execute specialized cooperative activities, thereby delivering practical benefits to the governments, citizens and business communities of the two nations.
