Ha Nam celebrates the 60th anniversary of Uncle Ho's visit to the province

The Ha Nam Provincial Party Committee held a ceremony to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Uncle Ho’s visit to the province on January 14, in Ha Nam with the participation of Politburo member, Secretary of the Central Party Committee and Head of the Central Commission for Information Communications Vo Van Thuong and Deputy President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh.

On January 14 of 1958, the Provincial Party Committee and people of Ha Nam were honored to receive Uncle Ho, visiting and participating in a conference to review the anti-drought campaign of the province. At the meeting, Uncle Ho praised the authorities and people of Ha Nam for their initiative of building dams, wells and ditches to supply water to fields, and pointed out the task of the whole people in the anti-drought campaign.

Uncle Ho’s encouragement at that time carried special meaning to Party members, military officers, soldiers, wounded soldiers and the whole people of Ha Nam. Meanwhile, his teachings to the local authorities were deep lessons on taking care of people's lives, prioritizing agricultural production, saving time and joining efforts to build the province of Ha Nam.

Currently, 78 out of the province’s 98 communes and 2 districts have met the standards for the new-style rural area model. Ha Nam's economy has grown rapidly. Its per capita GDP reached VND 48.6 million and budget revenue in 2017 was VND 6,255 billion, an increase of 90 times compared to that of 1997).

The authorities of Ha Nam has also attached importance to Party building, while innovating approaches and methods in popularizing the Party’s guidelines, the State’s laws and the Government’s policies to all people.

On this occasion, the Cat Tuong Memorial site marking the Uncle Ho's visit to Ha Nam was recognized as "National Culture Historic Site" by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

At the meeting, the Ha Nam Provincial Party Committee presented certificates of merit to 60 individuals and organizations for their outstanding achievements in the movement “Studying and following Ho Chi Minh’s ideas, morals and style” in 2017.
