JunctionxHanoi 2018 kicks off

The JunctionxHanoi2018, a Vietnamese version of Junction - Europe's largest Hackathon competition, kicked off for the first time on October 12, attracting 250 contestants, who are young enthusiastic Vietnamese people working in technology.

Hackathons are coupled by the words "hack" and "marathon" - which accepts creative, unique groundbreaking ideas, which are realised with the aim of solving social problems through the application of technological solutions.

Co-organised by Hanoi University with the Embassy of Finland, the completion aims to create the largest international hackathon technology community in Vietnam.

With only 48 hours to make a difference, teams will have to turn a unique idea (solution) on the track that is given by sponsors into an interesting product, in the form of a website, phone application, or any other technology-oriented product.

According to Nguyen Thi Cuc Phuong, Deputy Head of Hanoi University, among 68% of the contestants are students studying at universities in Vietnam, 32% are young people who have graduated, are working or have an interest in information technology.

In Junction, the Hackathon concept is not just about pure technology but has evolved into a multi-sectorial one. It is a place for all those who love technology and design in every field in life. So if you are a business, tech or design person, then you have come to the right competition.

Anyone can sign up for the competition as an individual or in a team, with a minimum of 3 people and maximum of 5 people per team. However, during the contest, candidates must compete in the form of a group. Candidates will be grouped before the competition with the help of the Hackathon organiser. Each group should have at least one person who has good English speaking skills and one programmer.

The total value of the prize is up to over VND100 million. In particular, the winning team will have the opportunity to travel to Finland for all the members of the team to participate in Europe's largest Junction event - attracting over 1500 participants from more than 90 countries around the world, in Helsinki (Finland) in November 2018.
