Minister of Public Security Luong Tam Quang has officially commended the Ho Chi Minh City Police, specifically praising a local officer for his "bravery and selflessness" during a recent fire rescue.

In a letter sent on behalf of the Central Public Security Party Committee, Minister Quang lauded the rapid response of the Tan Thoi Hiep Ward Police following a fire at a residence on Nguyen Thi Thoi Street in the early hours of April 12.

The Minister gave special recognition to Captain Huynh Tuan Kiet, who braved the flames to rescue a child trapped inside the burning building. Captain Kiet personally ensured the victim was transported to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment.

"Their actions demonstrate a profound spirit of dedication and a readiness to risk their own lives in service of the people," the Minister wrote.

Minister Quang emphasized that such efforts significantly enhance the image of the People’s Public Security forces. He noted that the incident reaffirms the vital role of grassroots-level police in: Maintaining social order and safety, safeguarding the peaceful lives of citizens, responding effectively to local emergencies.

The Minister called upon the Ho Chi Minh City Police leadership to formally recognize the officers involved and to continue promoting the motto of "selfless service and sacrifice for the people."

The letter concluded with the Minister wishing the officers continued health and success in their mission to ensure public safety.
