Speedboats to connect Con Dao with Soc Trang

PSNews - The Superdong Fast Ferry - Kien Giang JSC held a ceremony on March 13 in Tran De townlet of the Mekong Delta province of Soc Trang to start construction of the Tran De Wharf, connecting Soc Trang with Con Dao Island.

According to Quach Hoa, member of the company’s Board of Directors, the Soc Trang - Con Dao route is expected to be launched in June 2017 as the first phase will have been completed by May 2017.

The project, with a total investment of 90 billion VND, sits on an area of over 3.6 hectares in Dau Giong village, Tran De townlet, Tran De district of Soc Trang province.

The project includes piers, embankments, a ticket terminal, a waiting room, a restaurant, a reading room, a car park, a hostel for staff, a hotel, a park, and other facilities.

According to the company, the first speedboat Superdong Con Dao 1, which is being built in Malaysia with a total investment of 50 billion VND, can accommodate 306 passengers and travel at a speed of 25-27 knots/h at sea in wind speed level 8.

In the first six months of operation, it is expected that about 30,000 visitors will be transported between Soc Trang and Con Dao.

The Con Dao Islands are an archipelago and also a district of Ba Ria – Vung Tau, a province in the Southeastern region of Vietnam.

Con Dao Island is known as a famous tourist destination of Vietnam.
