Troubled fishermen saved at sea

PSNews – Ship 624 of Naval Fleet 129 of the Saigon Newport Corporation (SNP) saved 12 fishermen of a sinking boat in the Truong Sa (Spratly) waters on October 6.

Previously, at about 7:45 am the same day, Ship BD 99137 TS, captained by Pham Van Danh, a native from Hoai Hai commune, Hoai Nhon district, Binh Dinh province, collided with a reef and began sinking when fishing in the surrounding waters of Da Tay Island (West London Reef) of Truong Sa (Spratly) Archipelago.

Upon receiving the mayday, commanders of Da Tay Island mobilized forces and collaborated with Ship 624 operating nearby to save the troubled fishermen.

The victims then received first aid and food  from troops of Da Tay Island.

* One day earlier, Ship 211 of Naval Fleet 137 of Naval Region 1 collaborated with three other fishing boats to save 8 fishermen from the distressed boat  NA 99997 TS.

Previously, the boat’s  batteries exploded and a fire broke out when it was fishing about 10 nautical miles northeast of Hon Mat Island of Nghe An province.

After arriving on  the scene, Ship 211 together with three other fishing boats operating nearby, namely NA 99368 TS, NA 93427 TS, and NA 99799 TS, extinguished the fire and rescued the troubled fishermen. Reportedly, the troubled boat  was captained by Phan Van Khuyen, a native from Quynh Phuong commune, Quynh Luu district, Nghe An province.
