The vulnerability can be exploited by WannaCry (also known as WannaCrypt0r or WannaCrypt) for hacking and encrypting users’ data around the world.

According to Bkav, the WannaCry has now infected more than 200,000 computers in more than 90 countries around the world, including Vietnam. This malicious code is capable of infecting peer-to-peer computers through cyber vulnerability so it can spread very fast.

Mr Vu Ngoc Son, Bkav's Vice President of Anti-Malware, said: " European countries see complicated attacks of WannaCry, but in Vietnam, the situation has not really been critical. It is possible that the hacker at first targets the European market and rather than Vietnam. However, with 52% computers in Vietnam have vulnerabilities, the risk of being attacked are very high."

To minimize the risk of being attacked by this malicious code, Bkav recommends that users keep a regular backup of necessary data and update operating system patch files.

Users also should install antivirus software on their computers and turn the software on the automatic protection mode.. In particular, Bkav has released a free tool to check Wanna Crypt (also known as Wanna Crypt0r or Wanna Cry), which is spreading rapidly in more than 90 countries around the world, including Vietnam. Bkav's free tool helps users scan their computers and see if they have been infected with Wanna Crypt signs.
