Since the current COVID-19 outbreak occurred in HCMC, Ms. Chau Nguyen Thanh Hang and members of the Hoa Tam Charity Group in District 4 have cooked free meals for needy households.
Meanwhile, over the past month, the kitchen of the HCMC Youth Center for Social Work in District 1 has provided nearly 80,000 meals for people who are in isolated areas, as well as health workers. The center is planning to cook 7,000 portions per day to meet the increasing demand.
Many mobile kitchens have been also established by local artists, offering thousands of meals to people in need. "Thuong Sai Gon Kitchen", a kitchen organized by the HCMC Theater Association with the participation of many artists, volunteers and donors, is among the local charity kitchens.

According to Meritorious artist Trinh Kim Chi, Vice President of the HCMC Theater Association, the kitchen delivers over 1,000 meals to patients and health workers at some hospitals as well as people in isolation zones and needy workers every day.
Mr. Vo Quoc Binh, representative of the HCMC Youth Center for Social Work, the number of volunteers involved in preparing 4,000 meals each day ranges from 25 to 30 people.
The kitchen provides meals for medical workers and patients at the HCMC Hospital for Tropical Diseases (HTD), the HCMC Oncology Hospital 2, and the Trung Vuong hospital. The kitchen also delivered meals to people in blockaded and isolated arrears, shelters and dormitories in District 10, 8, Binh Thanh, Tan Phu, Binh Tan.
Huynh Thi Huong, a volunteer from the HCMC Youth Center for Social Work said that, sometimes, she and other volunteers finish their work at 5am next day and only have an hour to sleep before starting their next work shift. But, everyone is still happy because they contribute to supporting people in difficult states due to the pandemic.
