Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long commends Hung Yen Provincial Police for eliminating cybercriminal network

PSNews - Deputy Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Long sent a letter to the Hung Yen Provincial Police Department, on April 8, praising the local police for successfully dismantling a criminal network using high technology to organize gambling activities and illegally appropriate people’s property in a large scale.

Over the past time, the Hung Yen Provincial Police Department took synchronous professional measures to investigate a cybercriminal network using high technology to organize gambling activities and illegally appropriate people’s property in a large scale.

By now, the police have arrested 35 suspects, seized 5 automobiles and 42 mobile phones and froze 125 bank accounts belonging to the suspects.

Through their investigation, the police determined that the suspects created fake large-scale online goods trading transactions to defrauded thousands of people of their money. The amount of money related to their fraud and gambling totalled more than 9,300 billion VND.

The elimination of such a large-scale fraudulent network has demonstrated their high determination, strong sense of responsibility and sharp professional expertise of the Hung Yen Police Force while implementing the directions of the Public Security Central Party Committee and the leadership of the Ministry of Public Security on combating organized crime, hi-tech crime and online fraud.

The clearance of the case contributed to ensuring a safe and healthy business and production environment, stabilizing the security and order situation nationwide, and preventing people from losing more money. It also helps deter criminals and prevent crime, as well as strengthen public trust in the Public Security Forces.

On behalf of the Public Security Central Party Committee and the leadership of the Ministry of Public Security, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long acknowledged and commended the involved units and officers for their accomplishment.

The Deputy Minister requested the Hung Yen Provincial Police Department to promptly expand the investigation, complete related documents and evidence as well as legal procedures to prosecute all involved persons in accordance with the law.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long wished the participating units and officers more success at work in the coming time.
