Hanoi concludes defensive area exercise 2019

PSNews – The Hanoi City defensive area exercise in 2019 concluded at the Dong Doi Shooting Range with a live-fire shoot at the battalion level themed “Infantry battalion attacking airborne enemy troops” under the leadership of Division 301 of the Hanoi Capital High Command.

The shoot and closing ceremony saw the presence of Mr. Hoang Trung Hai, Politburo’s member, Secretary of the Hanoi Municipal Party Committee, Head of the Steering Board for the Defensive Area Exercise of Hanoi City 2019; Senior Lieutenant General Pham Van Giang, member of the Party Central Committee, permanent member of the Central Military Commission, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) and Deputy Defense Minister, Head of the Steering Board of the Ministry of National Defense for the Defensive Area Exercise of Hanoi City 2019; Senior Lieutenant General Bui Van Nam, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of Public Security; and Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Phuong Nam, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army.

The live-fire shooting was one of the four contents of the Hanoi City Defensive Area Exercise 2019. The exercise aimed at evaluating the training results of local units, as well tactics and combat coordination among various local army forces, regular military units and reinforced forces.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Phuong Nam, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army stressed that the exercise was successful, meeting all task requirements while ensuring absolute safety for participating personnel and equipment.

On behalf of the Steering Board for the Defensive Area Exercise of Hanoi City in 2019, Mr. Hoang Trung Hai recognized and praised the spirit and responsibility of the City’s Party committee, authorities, agencies, organizations, armed forces and people, especially the forces involved directly in the practices, who had overcome difficulties to fulfill their assigned tasks, contributing to the success of the Hanoi City Defensive Area Exercise 2019.

Mr. Hoang Trung Hai also pointed out limitations and shortcomings of participating agencies and units in the exercise, and urged all agencies and units of Hanoi City to complete the combat plan for the defensive area after the exercise.
