PSNews – The Israel Embassy in collaboration with Omega Vietnam and Alpha Book on July 16 hosted the first-ever event "Israeli Book Day" in Hanoi and introduced the book "Sapiens: A brief history of humankind."

Many readers and people interested in the Israeli culture arrived very early at the Hanoi Book Street to attend the event.

The event displayed more than 100 precious documents about Israel and Jewish people published in Vietnamese, English and Hebrew languages. There were also books written by Jewish authors. Many of the exhibited documents were provided by the Israel Embassy in Vietnam.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Israel's Deputy Ambassador to Vietnam Doron Lebovich said that the close relationship between Vietnam and Israel have been reflected in many aspects, including economics, education and culture. He also stressed the importance of book in introducing Israel culture to Vietnamese readers.

The Israeli Book Day attracted readers of all ages. In less than an house since its opening ceremony, hundreds of readers came and visited the bookstores.

According to the organizers, in recent years, the Jewish people and Israel nation have attracted much attention from Vietnamese people. This hinted local publishers at bringing more quality books about Israel to local readers.

At the event, Chairman of Alpha Books Nguyen Canh Binh on behalf of the organizers highlighted the event and the humanitarian meaning of "Israeli Book Day."

Within the framework of the "Israeli Book Day",  the book "Sapiens: A brief history of humankind" was released with the participation of Associate Professor. Doctor. Dinh Ngoc Bao, former vice president of Hanoi National University of Education.

"Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind" takes readers to an astounding journey through human history, from its evolutionary periods to the era of capitalism and genetic engineering, in order to discover the reason why human beings are living in such conditions.

The "Israeli Book Day" included a series of meaningful activities in order to promote the reading culture as well as Israeli famous books to Vietnamese readers of all ages.
