HCMC Book Street hosts events to celebrate Dien Bien Phu victory

PSNews – The Ho Chi Minh Municipal Department of Information and Communications on May 7 in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) Book Street launched a series of activities to celebrate the 65th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu victory ( May 7, 1954-2019) and to mark 50 years of the implementation of President Ho Chi Minh’s testament. 

These activities, running from May 7 to 19 in the Book Street, include various exhibitions and exchanges between Dien Bien Phu veterans and young people with the aim of recalling the Dien Bien Phu historic victory.

There will be an exhibition named “Dien Bien Phu –Story of history makers” displaying 14 posters with stories in both Vietnamese and French, which have been cited from valuable reference documents of Vietnam and France as well as interviews with veterans about the Dien Bien Phu victory.

Meanwhile, the main developments of the Dien Bien Phu Campaign are recreated through documentaries and stories told by those veterans who had directly participated in the battle as well as photos by photographer Trieu Dai, who participated in the campaign as a reported for the Photography Division under the Military Information and Communications Department.

The exhibition “Vietnam is a beautiful country with Uncle Ho,” which will display photos cited from the book of the same name, is held by the Youth Publishing House and the Ho Chi Minh Museum’s branch in Ho Chi Minh City.

People in the Walking Street can also learn more about President Ho Chi Minh through 5 bookcases with the whole volume of more than 30 Ho Chi Minh Heritage books, and through seminars such as "The 20-year Journey of the Ho Chi Minh Heritage books"," Uncle Ho's Testament - A unique Vietnamese textbook."
