Ho Chi Minh City invests 5,400 billion VND to connect District 4 and 7

PSNews - The new 4 km-route connecting Hoang Dieu Street and Nguyen Van Linh Street will complete the North-South axis and expected to reduce traffic congestion in Kenh Te Bridge area.

The Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) People's Committee has proposed the Prime Minister to apply the mode of selecting investors in special cases in an effort to soon deploy the North-South axis (from Hoang Dieu To Nguyen Van Linh).

With a total investment of about 5,430 billion VND, the route is 3.8 km long, 40-60m wide (8-10 vehicle lands) starting from Hoang Dieu St. (District 4) to Nguyen Van Linh St. (District 7). It is expected to reduce traffic congestion and facilitate vehicle travelling from the South to the city center and vice versa.

In response to traffic congestion in this area, this year the HCMC Department of Transportation will widen Te Bridge with additional1.5m on each side at total cost of 90 billion VND.

The HCMC North-South axis starts from Highway 22 runs through An Suong, down to Truong Chinh and ends at the Hiep Phuong Industrial Zone (Nha Be District). It is one of the two important diametrical routes of the city. In particular, the road section from An Suong to Ong Lanh Bridge was basically formed from the combination of available roads and Cach Mang Thang Tam Street. The section from Nguyen Van Linh to Hiep Phuong port was also invested.

However, only the section from the Hoang Dieu intersection to Nguyen Van Linh is still under construction, so people have to go a roundabout route around two intersections at high risk of congestion, especially on and at the two ends of Kenh Te Bridge.
