Outstanding police officers in fighting COVID-19 praised

Major General Le Quoc Hung, Deputy Minister of Public Security and Commander of the Ho Chi Minh City-based Interim Front Command under the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) on September 9 visited anti-pandemic checkpoints in some Southern localities.

During his inspection, he presented Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister (PM) and the MPS to on-duty police officers and soldiers, who have obtained outstanding achievements in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic and ensuring security, social order.

    * At a checkpoint on Highway 50 between Ho Chi Minh City and Long An province, under the authority of the PM, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung presented a Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister to Captain Nguyen Thanh Luan, Deputy Head of the Da Phuoc Traffic Police Station. He also awarded Certificates of Merit from the MPS to two officers of the Ho Chi Minh City Gateway Traffic Police Post, namely Captain Nguyen Hoang Anh and Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Quoc Thai.

    During the meetings, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung asked the officers and soldiers directly working on the frontline of the anti-pandemic fight to try their best to fulfil their tasks, seriously observe discipline, and control the pandemic in Ho Chi Minh City.

    *At a checkpoint on National Highway 1A in Ben Luc district, Long An province, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung presented the PM’s Certificate of Merit to Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Dinh Son, an officer of the Duc Hoa District Security Team, and the MPS Certificate of Merit to Major Le Minh Thiep, Deputy Chief of the My Yen Communal Police Post in Ben Luc district.

    At the meeting with police leaders of My Yen commune (Ben Luc district) which is considered a "red zone" of COVID-19, Deputy Minister Hung stressed that ensuring social security and taking care of vulnerable people are of the key tasks in the fight against the pandemic. 

    He asked the communal police to actively advise the local Party Committee and authorities to well ensure social security, avoiding a shortage of food for the locals.

    Earlier, public security schools and the Southwest Mobile Police Regiment had sent their forces to Ben Luc district to support local efforts in stamping out the disease.

    * At a gateway to Dong Nai province (located in Long Binh Tan ward, Bien Hoa city) where about 11,000 vehicles travel through every day, Deputy Minister Hung asked on-duty officers to conduct medical checks of vehicles running in and out of the locality in a more scientific but stricter manner, contributing to putting the pandemic under control before the deadline of September 15 set by the PM.

    At the checkpoint, under the authority of the PM, Deputy Minister Hung presented a Certificate of Merit to Colonel Tran Trong Thuy, Deputy Head of the Traffic Police Office under the Dong Nai Provincial Police Department. The Deputy Minister also presented the Certificates of Merit from the MPS to Senior Colonel Tran Tien Dat, Deputy Director of the Dong Nai Provincial Police Department, and Senior Lieutenant Phan Thai Hoang, an officer of the Criminal Police Office.

    *Visiting field accommodations and workplaces of the Central Highland Mobile Police Regiment's policemen reinforced to Ho Chi Minh City, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung asked them to exert all-out efforts to complete their assigned tasks.

    *At a checkpoint on the gateway to Binh Duong province, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung inquired after the health of the on-duty officers working there. 

    He then presented Certificates of Merit from the PM and MPS respectively to Lieutenant Hoang Van Sinh, a platoon-level officer, and Captain Pham Quoc Trung, a company-level officer, both working at the Binh Duong Provincial Mobile Police Office.
