The Vietnamese Consulate General in Savanakhet province, Laos held an incense offering ceremony at the Uncle Ho memorial complex in Kaysone Phomvihane town on May 18 to mark the 128th anniversary of the birth of late President Ho Chi Minh.
The ceremony was attended by Lao officials, staff of the Vietnamese Consulate General, and representatives of the Overseas Vietnamese Association in Savanakhet, departments, schools and Vietnamese businesses operating in Laos.
A meeting to mark President Ho Chi Minh’s birthday will be held on the evening of May 19 at Hong Bang Hall in Savanakhet province.
Earlier, a similar incense offering ceremony took place at the Uncle Ho relic site in Xiengvang village, Nongbok district, Khammuan province.
In coordination with the local government, the Vietnamese Embassy in Chile held a ceremony at Ho Chi Minh Park in Santiago’s Cerro Navia district on May 17 to mark the 128th anniversary of the birth of late President Ho Chi Minh.
At the ceremony, Cerro Navia Mayor Mauro Tamayo said the local people named the park “Ho Chi Minh Park” in 1969 to show their respect to President Ho Chi Minh, the first president of free and independent Vietnam.
Mr Tamayo hoped to continue to collaborate with the Embassy in organizing cultural exchanges and exhibitions on Vietnam to help the Chilean people gain deeper insights into the country today.
In his speech, Ambassador Nguyen Ngoc Son highlighted the great contributions of President Ho Chi Minh to the struggles for national independence and for the peace, national independence, democracy and social progress of nations around the world.
On the occasion, the Embassy presented the Cerro Navia Cultural Centre with a range of cultural publications and photo books on Vietnam.
