Thua Thien Hue provided with EUR25,000 to develop traditional crafts

Victoria Elizabeth Ho from the UK has provided a financial aid package of EUR25,000 for Thua Thien - Hue province to help develop its traditional craft products.

On May 28, Head of the Office of Thua Thien - Hue province's Peoples' Committee, Hoang Ngoc Khanh, said that the province has received the aid and delivered it to the Hue Centre for Economic Development and Cultural Preservation (CPED).

He noted that the aid will be used to carry out marketing activities and to develop products created by craftspeople and traditional craft villages in the province in addition to maintaining the exhibition of craft products at the CPED's office.

Thua Thien - Hue province plans to invest VND144.3 trillion (US$6.35 billion) in developing craft villages by 2020 with a focus on vocational training, developing new crafts, and expanding consumption markets for craft products.

The province will prioritise restoring and developing the following craft villages: the Hue copper casting village in Phuong Do and Thuy Xuan wards, Hue city; the Phuoc Tich pottery village and My Xuyen wood carving village in Phong Hoa commune, Phong Dien district; the Sinh folk painting village in Phu Mau commune, Phu Vang district; the Thuy Thanh conical hat village in Huong Thuy district and My Lam conical hat village in Phu My commune, Phu Vang district; and the Zeng weaving village in A Roang commune, A Luoi district; among others.
