Vietnam – Belarus to strengthen cooperation in fighting crime

PSNews –The Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and the Belarus Ministry of the Interior agreed to expand cooperation in multiple fields, particularly against organized and transnational crimes as well as high technology crimes and human trafficking.

Within the framework of the Belarus visit, the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security’s delegation, led by its Minister, Senior Lieutenant General To Lam on March 2, had talks with the Belarus Interior Ministry’s delegation headed by its Minister Igor Shunevich; and met with Chairman of the National Security Committee of Belarus Valery Pavlovich Vakulchik.

At the talks with the Vietnam Ministry of Public Security’s delegation, Belarusian Minister of the Interior Igor Shunevich warmly welcomed Minister To Lam, highly valued the visit to the country of the Vietnamese public security delegation to participate in the celebration of the 100th founding anniversary of the Belarusian police force.

Minister To Lam extended sincere thanks to Mr. Igor Shunevich for the warm reception, and stated that the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security is grateful to the Belarus Ministry of the Interior for its supports in  training of generations of Vietnamese public security officers and for valuable experiences shared by Belarusian experts in fighting crimes.

The two sides exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest, and focused discussion on results of bilateral cooperation in recent years and on directions and measures to promote cooperation between the two countries in the coming time.

The Vietnam Ministry of Public Security and the Belarus Ministry of Interior also agreed on measures to further strengthen cooperation in prevention and fight against crimes, particularly transnational crimes, hi-tech crimes, drug related crimes, human trafficking and illegal migration.

The two ministries reaffirmed the need to expand cooperation in improving abilities of law enforcement officials, especially in the fields of prevention and fight against hi-tech crime, economic crime and in the field of criminal techniques.

After the talks with the Belarus Interior Ministry’s delegation, the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security’s delegation met with the Belarusian National Security Committee.

During the meeting, the two sides reached consensus on measures to have an in-depth and effective cooperation in the near future.
