Efforts to accelerate scientific and technological development, innovation, digital transformation, and Project 06

PSNews - Recently, the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) as the Standing Agency of Government Steering Committee 57 convened a briefing session with ministries, sectors and partner enterprises to review the progress of the implementation of scientific and technological development, innovation, digital transformation, and the implementation of Project 06.

Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Long, who is Head of the Assisting Team to Government Steering Committee 57, chaired the meeting.

The meeting focused on resolving key challenges in executing assigned tasks and reaching consensus on the progress reports to be presented at the regular Government meeting for May 2026.

Following the recent consolidation of Government Steering Committee 57, leadership and administration over these initiatives saw measurable improvements in May 2026.

Compared to the milestone date of May 4, 2026, the number of overdue tasks was successfully reduced from 73 to 48. These remaining tasks are concentrated across five core areas: finalizing institutional and legal frameworks; constructing and connecting databases; reforming administrative procedures and public services; developing strategic technologies; and ensuring information security and data infrastructure.

Overall, the implementation of scientific and technological development, innovation, digital transformation, and Project 06 tasks yielded positive updates in May. However, the progress remained uneven across different ministries and sectors, with various tasks having completed their preparatory phases but failing to deliver final outputs.

A comprehensive review indicated that the majority of delayed tasks are new, complex, highly inter-sectoral, and unprecedented. Furthermore, many carry tight deadlines that do not fully align with the intricate nature of the assignments.

During the session, representatives from various ministries, departments, and sectors provided practical, field-level assessments. They highlighted key achievements while pinpointing ongoing difficulties, bottlenecks, and obstacles that must be systematically dismantled in the coming months.

Concluding the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long expressed basic consensus on the report detailing the implementation of Resolution No. 57 and Project 06, as well as the summary proposals submitted by ministries and sectors for the upcoming regular Government session.

The Deputy Minister requested that all ministries, sectors and local authorities urgently review, classify, and formulate definitive action plans to completely resolve all overdue tasks.

Regarding digital transformation and data development, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long urged ministries and sectors to promptly assess their current standing, accelerate database construction, and complete foundational platform architecture frameworks within June 2026.

Additionally, he called for expedited progress in creating shared data systems to support the synchronous rollout of digital academic records integrated in the VNeID application starting from the 2026–2027 academic year, alongside accelerating the cleansing of national land data.
