At the meeting, Minister Luong Tam Quang and the senior Mongolian official agreed that the elevation of the traditional friendship between the two countries to a Comprehensive Partnership in September 2024, during the visit to Mongolia by General Secretary and State President To Lam, opened a new phase of more comprehensive and substantive development in bilateral ties, with security and law enforcement cooperation serving as an important pillar.
Based on the high-level consensus reached between Vietnamese General Secretary and State President To Lam and Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, the two sides stressed that elevating ties between Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security and Mongolia’s National Security Council Office at this stage is essential to maintaining a peaceful and stable environment in the region and the world, while creating favorable conditions for each country to promote national construction and development.
On that basis, the two sides agreed to step up cooperation in responding to non-traditional security threats, focusing on shared priority areas, including ensuring cybersecurity, enhancing cooperation in combating transnational crimes such as cyber fraud and drug trafficking, and closely coordinating efforts to ensure the protection of citizens of both countries.
