Vietnam and Singapore enjoy a longstanding and robust friendship and cooperative relationship. Since the two countries upgraded ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2025, bilateral cooperation has gained new momentum, creating favorable conditions for deeper, more substantive and more effective collaboration across a wide range of sectors.
In recent years, cooperation between Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security and Singapore’s Ministry of Home Affairs has become increasingly practical, effective and close. The two sides recently co-hosted the 8th Deputy Ministerial Bilateral Conference and the 13th Sports Exchange Program on May 29.
During the talks, the two ministers reviewed the results of cooperation in combating various forms of crime and discussed measures to further strengthen collaboration in the coming period.
The ministers also agreed to make full use of bilateral dialogue mechanisms and cooperation frameworks to exchange views on regional security issues of mutual concern, enhance their capacity to respond promptly and effectively to emerging challenges, and strengthen cooperation in ensuring cybersecurity and cyber safety. Efforts will focus on preventing cyberattacks and unauthorized intrusions, while improving coordination in tackling cybercrime and online fraud.
The two sides further agreed to share experience in state management, legal framework development and standards-setting in the fields of cybersecurity and high-tech crime prevention, including online fraud. They will promote the exchange of criminal intelligence, coordinate investigations and case verification, and cooperate in apprehending internationally wanted fugitives through Interpol and ASEANAPOL channels.
The talks underscored the shared commitment of Vietnam and Singapore to deepening security cooperation and addressing increasingly complex transnational and cyber-related threats, contributing to peace, stability and security in the region.
