The Chair’s main tasks are to play a central role in coordinating missions of member offices, as well as connecting and expanding members and attracting their contributions to earth observations of the committee.

Tuan revealed as the committee’s Chair, Vietnam will put forward two initiatives, including carbon observation, especially in forests in order to serve forest management and supervision, and observation serving agricultural development, with the focus on rice.

These applications are essential to the assessment of agricultural development in Vietnam and will be extended to the nations in the Mekong River region, Tuan added.

Vietnam will host the 33rd CEOS Plenary slated for October 14-16, 2019.
