4G services cover nearly 50 Tet festivals

PSNews - Viettel has operated 150 4G stations providing 4G services for 50 festivals nationally. In practice, the 4G network can transmit data 7-10 times faster than 3G.

At the ongoing Huong Pagoda festival (Hanoi), 20 2G and 3G stations along with 10 4G stations are operational. At the Yen Tu Pagoda (Quang Ninh) festival, Viettel has completed the installation of 10 stations of 2G, 3G and 4G, 2 wifi transmitters in Hoa Yen and Dong Temple.

The widespread deployment of the 4G network helps ease the 3G network when it is overused. Viettel has also mobilized its specialized vehicles to install wifi transmitters and upgrade transmitting stations at festivals.

Earlier, during the Lunar New Year holiday, the Viettel mobile network’s quality was well maintained. It operated stably and smoothly across the country, including busy urban areas, festival places and New Year Eve venues although data transmitted on Viettel’s 2G and 3G networks increased by 15% on the Lunar New Year’s Eve compared to last year. However, the total voice call output fell slightly by 6% from the 2016 New Year Eve.

To deny problems in its mobile network during the 2017 New Year Eve, Viettel had put into use 4G technology and applied effective wifi solutions, increasing capacity of its 3G network by 10-40%. As a result, all records showed that the operational quality was from 30% to 60 better than required

At this point, Viettel has installed and operated thousands of 4G stations nationally, and 200 wifi transmitters in key places; put in operation 190 new base transceiver stations (BTS); added hardware to nearly 2,200 existing BTS; and upgraded 14,000 other stations in all provinces.

Viettel sent 74 mobile transmitter vehicles to festival locations, key events, large apartment buildings, and crowded places. 2 undersea cables of APG and AAG had also been reactivated before the Lunar New Year, contributing to strengthening reserved transmission capacity of international connections during the Tet Holiday.
