Brave and heroic officers and citizens in drug prevention honored

PSNews-The Ministry of Public Security organized an art program themed “For peaceful life”, to name and honor outstanding examples in prevention and suppression of drug-related crime. The program[u1]  was broadcast live on VTV1 and ANTV.

The event was attended by Mr. Truong Hoa Binh, Member of Politburo, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister, and Senior Lieutenant General Le Quy Vuong, Deputy Minister of Public Security.

The program aimed to honor 148 outstanding soldiers, officers and citizens with striking achievements and contributions to the prevention and suppression of narcotic-related crimes, including kin people of the 22 fallen heroic officers, who sacrificed their lives in the fight against the drug crime.

Addressing the event, Colonel Ngo Van Hai, Vice Head of Division 3 under the Police Department of Drug-Related Crime told the audience about the difficulties, challenges and even losses of the force in the fight against the crime.

Drug-related crimes are rated as “hidden” so in the struggle against the crime, the force cannot help depending on people and needing support from the people, Hai said.

Additionally, criminals usually use fine methods and wise tricks; they usually carry weapons and are ready to suicide to protect the sources and their companions.

Behind the success of each drug case is a long arduous journey of a group of police officers, who are consistently facing dangers of their lives.

During the art performances, the audience had chance enjoying good music, songs and dances but also better understood the dangerous job of the Drug Related Crime Police, and felt sorry for those who have lost their body parts or laid down their lives to protect peaceful life for people. 

At the event, the Ministry of Public Security awarded the “National Security Protection” medals to 25 civilians with their great achievements in the prevention and fight against drug-related crime.
