The search area assigned to the Vietnamese Search and Rescue Mission is a vast disaster zone with numerous high-rise buildings that have collapsed. Among them, the Ministry of Public Security's search and rescue team is conducting operations at a nine-story apartment building that has been almost completely destroyed.
After completing an initial site assessment and establishing their base camp on their first day in Venezuela, the Vietnamese Search and Rescue Mission began rescue operations early on the morning of June 30 (local time).
The team focused on searching for victims in the area most severely affected by the disaster in Playa Grande Ward, Catia La Mar District, La Guaira State.
The search area covers a large zone with many collapsed multi-story buildings. The mission has been divided into several teams to carry out search operations at different locations.
The Ministry of Public Security's search and rescue team has further split into smaller groups to search a nine-story apartment building that has almost entirely collapsed.
According to local residents, approximately 15 people are still believed to be trapped beneath the rubble. Upon arriving at the scene, search-and-rescue dogs were immediately deployed to locate and mark the possible positions of victims.
Rescue personnel then carefully planned the subsequent stages of the operation to ensure both safety and effectiveness.
However, conditions at the collapsed apartment building are extremely complex. There is a high risk of secondary structural collapse, making access to the trapped victims extremely difficult. As a result, search and rescue operations are facing significant challenges.
