The conference saw the presence of leaders of the local authorities and representatives of functional units under the Ministry of Public Security.
It was also attended by leaders of provincial police departments of Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Tien Giang, Ninh Thuan, Hau Giang, Quang Tri, Ben Tre, Soc Trang, Quang Ninh, Dong Nai, Long An, Bac Ninh, Thai Binh, Lao Cai, Tay Ninh, Hai Phong, Khanh Hoa, Kien Giang, NinhBinh, Dien Bien, Bac Kan, Gia Lai, Ha Nam, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, and Dak Lak.

According to reports at the conference, the People's Public Security Forces launched five intensive campaigns against crimes and implemented lots of specific plans to prevent crimes.
In 2020, the nationwide police force handled over 39,000 criminal cases, of which 83.40% were successfully investigated. Particularly, in Q1 of 20201, nearly 9,500 criminal cases were investigated. In general, the number of offences has been reduced thanks to the intensive campaigns against crime conducted by the police forces in the past time.

At the conference, delegates discussed, assessed and predicted the crime situation as well as evaluated the results of the implementation of crime prevention and control over the past time so as to propose solutions to prevent crime in 2021.
Regarding key tasks in the coming time, Deputy Minister Le Quy Vuong asked local police leaders to focus on drawing up specific plans to control crimes in key traffic routes and areas while strongly attacking organized crime, drug trafficking, human trafficking, and hi-tech crime.
He also emphasized that the police force should continue promoting international cooperation and technology application in crime control.
