Can Tho Police urged to improve effectiveness of professional measures

PSNews – Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Son, Deputy Minister of Public Security outlined key tasks for the Can Tho Municipal Police Department in 2019 when addressing a meeting with the Southern city’s police on January 15.

The meeting, which was held to review the Can Tho Municipal Police Department’s task performance in 2018 and to roll out its key tasks in 2019, also saw the participation of the Can Tho City’s leaders and representatives of units under the Ministry of Public Security.

Senior Colonel Nguyen Van Thuan, Director of the Can Tho Municipal Police Department said that, in 2018, the unit well performed its assigned tasks in advising the local authorities on measures to ensure security and order in the city.

The unit implemented effective measures to ensure absolute safety for all key facilities and important political events in the city while the movement of “All people protecting National security” gained various positive results as the local police mobilized people from all walks of life to participate in protecting order and security.

Last year, the municipal police successfully investigated 96.8% of the criminal cases, including 100% of the serious cases, while controlling the number of criminal cases.

Meanwhile, the local police also achieved positive results of Party building and force building. For their outstanding achievements last year, may individuals and collectives of the Can Tho Municipal Police were presented with noble awards by the Ministry of Public Security.

Speaking at the event, on behalf of the Public Security Central Party Committee, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son spoke highly of the Can Tho Municipal Police’s achievements in 2018.

He thanked the Can Tho Municipal Party Committee, People’s Committee, local orgainzation and people for their great support for the police force.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son urged the Can Tho Municipal Police to set its key missions in line with the Ministry of Public Security’s motto in 2019, focusing on strengthening grassroots-level units.

The Deputy Minister asked the Can Tho Municipal Police to improve the effectiveness of the unit’s implementation of police professional measures, firmly grasp the situation, put on the alert against and defeat any conspiracies and activities of hostile forces, and ensure traffic safety on the city.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Son requested the Can Tho Police to step up cooperation with units inside and outside the forces, especially of the People’s Army to ensure absolute safety for key facilities and for major political and cultural events in the city.
