Cuban President Raúl Castro receives Minister To Lam

News – General Raúl Castro, First Secretary of the Cuban Party Central Committee, Chairman of the State Council of Cuba and the Council of Ministers on November 28 received Senior Lieutenant General To Lam, Politburo member, Secretary of the Central Public Security Party Committee and Vietnamese Minister of Public Security who is on an official visit to the country.

At the meeting, Minister To Lam thanked President Raúl Castro for his warm reception and conveyed the sincere greetings and wishes from General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and President Tran Dai Quang, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc to President Raúl Castro and other leaders of the Party and Government of Cuba.

Minister To Lam emphasized that the Party, State and people of Vietnam are always sincerely thankful to the Communist Party, State and people of Cuba for their solidarity and precious support for Vietnam’s struggle for liberation, national unity and unification in the past, and its current construction and defense at present.

Minister To Lam also expressed his deep thanks to President Raúl Castro for his directing, supporting and facilitating bilateral cooperation between the Cuban Ministry of the Interior and the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security in preventing and fighting crimes, and ensuring the security and order of each country.

He expressed his pleasure and appreciation at the great achievements made by the Cuban people in their national development cause.

Briefing President Raúl Castro on the outcomes of the meeting between the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security’s delegation and the Cuban Ministry of the Interior, Minister To Lam stressed that the bilateral cooperation between the police forces of the two countries continued to be strengthened in all fields, particularly security, police, force building, logistics and techniques, in line with the signed agreements between the two sides.

The two sides agreed on the assessment report on the results of the bilateral cooperation in the past, and the cooperation orientations for the future to ensure national security,  social order and safety in each country, contributing to promoting the traditional friendship and comprehensive co-operation between the two Parties, States and peoples.

Minister To Lam hoped that President Raúl Castro will continue to support the two countries' law enforcement forces’ cooperation in preventing and fighting crimes, and protect national security and order of each country, for the benefits of the two peoples, and for peace, stability and development in the two regions and the world.

President Raúl Castro welcomed Senior Lieutenant General To Lam and his delegation to Cuba and asked him to pass greetings and wishes to Vietnamese Party and State leaders. The host stressed that the visit would make an important contribution to promoting the traditional friendship between the two Parties, States, peoples and public security forces of the two countries.

On the occasion, the Cuban President also thanked the Party, State, Government and people of Vietnam for their solidarity, loyalty, support and timely assistance to Cuba. He appreciated Vietnam’s experience in preventing and fighting crimes, and ensuring security and order.

President Raúl Castro also expressed his satisfaction with the outcomes of the talks between the Cuban Ministry of the Interior and the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security. He suggested that the two sides should continue to promote co-operation, to cement their traditional friendship.

Earlier, the Vietnamese delegation visited Santiago de Cuba to pay tribute to Cuban national hero Jose Marti and Fidel Castro at the Santa Ifigenia cemetery.

On the same day, Minister To Lam and the delegation visited and talked with the staff of the Embassy of Vietnam in Cuba.
