Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang, Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Minister of Public Security, Head of the Subcommittee on Security and Order for election of the 15th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2021-2026 term, leading a delegation on April 27 inspected the preparation for the upcoming election of the provincial police departments of Thai Nguyen and eight neighboring provinces.

The meeting saw the attendance of representatives from various agencies under the Ministry of Public Security (MPS), the Thai Nguyen Provincial Police Department and local authorities, as well as leaders of the provincial police departments of Cao Bang, Lang Son, Bac Kan, Bac Giang, Phu Tho, Ha Giang, Vinh Phuc, Tuyen Quang provinces.
At the meeting, representatives from the nine provincial police departments briefed the delegation on the local situations and results of their task performances regarding safeguarding the upcoming elections of deputies to the 15th NA and People’s Councils for the 2021-2026 tenure.
According to the reports, the provincial police forces have drastically and comprehensively implementedtheir upper levels’ directions and worked out plans to ensure security for the upcoming election and respond to possible situations.
Particularly, the local police have successfully protectedmeetings to collect voters' opinions on local candidates for the election in the provinces.
Addressing the event, Deputy Minister Luong Tam Quang praised the nine provincial police departments for their efforts over the past time. The Deputy Minister assigned the MPS Office to report the local police’s questions to the MPS leadership for solutions. Regarding the issues beyond the MPS’s authority, the Deputy Minister promised to convey them to the National Election Council.
The MPS leader also asked the police departments of the nine Northern provinces to strictly follow the directions and guidelines of the MPS, the National Election Council and the local authorities on maintaining security and safety for the election which is slated for May 23.
All local police forces should further disseminate information about the election to people and actively mobilize all eligible citizens to cast their votes in the election while promoting the “All people protect national security” movement, he added.
