A high-ranking delegation of the Ministry of Public Security led by Deputy Minister Major General Nguyen Van Long had a working visit to Australia, from April 10 to 15, 2023.
The visit aimed to strengthen the cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and Australian security and law enforcement agencies, contributing to the Vietnam - Australia Strategic Partnership.
During the visit, the delegation had meetings with the Director of the National Emergency Management Agency of Australia (NEMA) of the Australian Department of Home Affairs, a Deputy Commissioner of the New South Wales State Police Force, officials from the Fire and Rescue Agency of the Australian Department of Home Affairs sharing experience in responding to emergency situations (natural disasters, floods, fire and rescue).
The Vietnamese delegation also took field trips to the New South Wales State Emergency Center, the New South Wales State Police (Road and Highway Patrol Police Unit, Traffic Management Centre, Waterway Police Unit) and Long Bay Prison in Sydney, New South Wales.
The meetings between the delegation from the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Secuirty and local agencies opened up opportunities for bilateral cooperation in responding to emergency situations on a large scale, ensuring traffic order and managing prisons.
The visit also contributed to strengthening the Vietnam - Australia Strategic Partnership, especially at a time when the two sides are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (February 26, 1973).
On this occasion, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long and the delegation also visited the Vietnamese Embassy and Consulate General of Vietnam in Australia.
