Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Thanh, Deputy Minister of Public Security on June 28 worked with leaders of the Provincial Police of Ca Mau on the operation of the Hon Da Bac National Relic Site in Khanh Binh Tay commune, Tran Van Thoi district, Ca Mau.

The Deputy Minister was accompanied by leaders of the Office of the MPS, relevant agencies and units under the MPS as well as the Directorate of the Ca Mau Provincial Police.

The Hon Da Bac Relic Site, is located in the island village of Kinh Hon, KhanhBinh Tay commune, about 480 m off the coast. The relic site covers 6.34 hectares and includes Hon Ngoc, Hon Da Bac and Bac Da Bac islands.

34 years ago, with the supports of the local armed forces and people of Ca Mau, the People’s Security Force successfully completed the counter-spy plan called CM12, defeating the attempts of hostile and reactionary forces to launch armed operations to sabotage the State of Vietnam. 

Due to its historical significance, Hon Da Bac – The command headquarters of the CM12 counterintelligence plan from September 9, 1981 to 1984) was recognized on June 22, 2009 by the Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism on Decision No. 2245/QĐ-BVHTTDL as a National Relic.

Speaking at the working session, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh highlighted the historical significance of the CM12 victory, which contributed to cracking down on sabotage activities of hostile forces and maintaining political stability and peace for the country; stated that the special case CM12 was a valuable lesson for the armed forces and the younger generations to learn in order to firmly protect the country.

Regarding opinions and ideas of the Provincial Police of Ca Mau as well as relevant agencies and units on the operation of the relics in the past time, the Deputy Minister noted, saying that some issues should be further discussed in the time to come.
