Ha Tinh Police successfully cracks down on large gambling ring

PSNews – The Ha Tinh Provincial Police on November 28 held a ceremony to award the specialized team that had successfully cracked down on an online football (soccer) betting ring with a total bet of nearly 15 million USD.

According to the investigation agency record, in early 2017, Duong Minh Tuan purchased a super-agent account from an unknown subject from Hanoi running website bag88.com and started online football betting in Ha Tinh.

Tuan then set up a number of sub-accounts and hired local people to run them. The investigation agency identified that there were 33 subjects involved in the management of the football betting ring. The ring lured hundreds of people in Ha Tinh to illegal online gambling activities.

Within 2 months from September 18 to November 9, the football betting ring led by Duong Minh Tuan made numerous transactions relating to online football betting worth of 310 billion VND (15 million USD).

At 5.30 am, November 9, the specialized working team, including officers from the Investigation Police Office under the Police Department for High-Tech Crime Prevention, the Huong Khe District Police and Thach Ha District Police, simultaneously launched raids on 5 bases of the illegal online gambling ring in Ha Tinh city, Huong Khe, Thach Ha, Can Loc districts and Ky Anh town. The police urgently arrested 3 leaders of the gang and convoked 27 involved subjects.

The specialized working team also searched many other related places and seized a number of documents and means related to the illegal gambling activities of the ring, including 1 car, 2 laptops, 30 cell phones, 10 Wifi Routers and 310 million VND in cash.

Speaking at the awarding ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Van Huyen, Member of the Ha Tinh Provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Department for Internal Affairs, praised the deeds of the investigation force of Ha Tinh police in successfully cracking down the largest ever online football betting ring in the province.

He also asked the specialized working team to expand investigation into the case and arrest all involved subjects.
