Mentioning the recent gunfire in Trung Hoa ward, Major General Doan Duy Khuong said: "Immediately after the incident, we were able to identify the right subjects and resolved the case in a short time. 4 out of 5 involved suspects were arrested immediately but Long Ma, the remainder, had fled to China. Then we also collaborated with Chinese law enforcement agencies and the Vietnamese border guard force and succeeded in arresting Long Ma”.

Major General Khuong also revealed that more raids on criminals will be launched with a focus on pawn shops on Dang Dung street, which are evidenty associated with criminal organizations.

The city’s Police Chief also affirmed, the Hanoi Police will work with other municipal agencies to resolutely attack “white color” criminals, who often under the cover of businesspeople commit offences.

According to Major General Khuong, the illegal use of self-upgraded vehicles, particularly home-made three-wheel motorbikes, in transporting cargo sees complicated developments, causing traffic congestions and road accidents.  But he said that the police still lack legal frameworks to resolve the situation of unlicensed home made motorbikes.

The Director of the Hanoi Police showed determination to restore the street sides for pedestrians, and to deal with illegal uses of sidewalks for parking purposes in the coming time.
